EJN-Supported Stories Reveal the Impact of IUU Fishing in the Galapagos

From June 2021 to February 2022, EJN joined with Internews’ Americas Program to lead a project aimed at improving the quality and quantity of environmental reporting in the Galápagos – with a focus on deepening coverage of Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Isabel Alarcón is an Ecuadorian journalist specialized in environmental issues. For the past eight years, she has worked as a reporter at El Comercio, Ecuador’s largest newspaper. Since 2017 she has been writing and investigating about local and international environmental issues. In 2017 she won a scholarship to attend a one-week e-mobility training course in Germany organized by International Journalism Programme. In 2019 she won one of the two Douglas Tweedale Memorial Fellowship scholarships

Isabel Alarcón is an Ecuadorian journalist specialized in environmental issues. For the past six years, she has worked as a reporter at El Comercio, Ecuador’s largest newspaper.
